“the subjects are left in a state of limbo, literally on a stairway to nowhere, alluding to the plight of those displaced by war, poverty, and discrimination. historically, we’ve turned to visual art for aesthetic catharsis, now it seems as though the tables have turned and art is seeking something out of us. in light of current global miseries concerning xenophobia and displacement, paci’s piece embodies the literal and figurative dream cut short.”
