P.S.
There’s a new epidemic among the late 20-somethings. It’s recent and sad. It’s lameness. It’s being caught up in the “mundane, the world is against me, I thought I was a special star” details of your life. It’s time for you to get over it. It’s time to stop masturbating on self attention. It’s time to stop bringing every conversation back to yourself. It’s time to realize that the human condition is loneliness. You have to be your own best friend. Your own fierce champion. Your own soulmate. Stop waiting for someone else to complete you, if you still don’t even know the last pieces of the puzzle to be filled. Know that your dreams will crush you even if you have or haven’t achieved them by now. Don’t shut down. Don’t get lethargic. Don’t get bitter. These are all synonyms to lameness. Keep living your life or it won’t get better. Sitting alone in your apartment, dreaming of all the things you will do once you’ve made it, is a lie. Lameness seeps to the bone. It will linger even if you make it. I say “even if” because maybe it’s time to re-evaluate/readjust your dreams. After all, you’re not getting any younger. And guess what? That’s not a bad thing. Looking back and thinking how good your life used to be is a trap of lameness. Stop being afraid of your life changing. It’s happening to everyone. It’s called the transition, not the destination. You have to keep on moving. Don’t let yourself get stuck. Because lameness is not attractive, or fun, or interesting. And you will be left behind.
